Ventures Magazine Names Hypertension Diagnostics to its
List of Best Performing Small Public Companies in Minnesota

ST. PAUL, MNMay 23, 2001 – Hypertension Diagnostics,
Inc. (NASDAQ SmallCap: HDII; HDIIW; HDIIU; HDIIZ) announced today that it has been named to Ventures Magazine's list of “50 Best Performing Small Public Companies in Minnesota.”

Greg H. Guettler, president of Hypertension Diagnostics, said, “We are very pleased with this recognition by Ventures Magazine. We enjoyed considerable success from our marketing of the HDI/PulseWave™ CR-2000 Research System during the last year. This model of our non-invasive proprietary technology is involved in cardiovascular disease and pharmaceutical research trials worldwide largely because of its ability to measure subtle changes in the elasticity of both large and small arteries. Following FDA clearance to market our technology to physicians in late 2000, we began the controlled launch of the CVProfilor® DO-2020 physician clinic configuration of our proven technology, just nine weeks ago.”

“While we are still early in our marketing effort to introduce the CVProfilor® into the very large market of physician’s offices, clinics and healthcare facilities throughout the United States, we are encouraged by the progress we have already made to earn a place on Ventures Magazine’s list and by the initial interest that is being expressed in our CVProfilor® System,” Guettler said.
Ventures Magazine’s list of the 50 Best Performing Small Public Companies in Minnesota was based on performance in five key areas, including revenue growth percentage; dollar revenue growth; income growth percent scaled by revenue; percent growth in total assets; and total return to shareholders. Hypertension Diagnostics was ranked number 38 on Ventures Magazine’s list.
Ventures, the magazine for growing Twin Cities companies, is based in Minneapolis.
