Hypertension Diagnostics Continues Expansion of its Direct-to-Consumer Marketing of the CVProfilor® through OnSite Wellness Medical Associates

ST. PAUL, MN August 12, 2002 – Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (“HDI”) (Nasdaq SmallCap: HDII), today announced that OnSite Wellness Medical Associates, Inc. of California will begin offering the CVProfilor® System in its wellness screening programs.

OnSite Wellness Medical Associates, Inc. is a medically licensed provider of health services specializing in nationwide screening programs at corporate, retail and community sites. Based in Torrance, CA, OnSite Wellness was established in 1997 to serve the need for convenient, reliable and reasonably priced wellness services. These services include immunizations and screening for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoporosis, prostate cancer and lung diseases. “We look forward to adding the CVProfilor® System to our program and offering our customers an opportunity for the early detection of cardiovascular disease,” said Mr. Sang-Jin Kim, Director of Marketing for OnSite Wellness.

“Although cardiovascular disease is more often associated with middle-aged and elderly people, it can and does affect young people too,” said Greg H. Guettler, President of Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. “Most people don’t realize it, but cardiovascular disease is the second largest cause of death among Americans in the 25-64 year-old age group and it is the third largest cause of death in 15-24 year-olds. Today’s health care system focuses mainly on treatment of cardiovascular disease – symptoms of which often do not appear until one is middle-aged or elderly. But, to lower the risks associated with cardiovascular disease, one needs to be much more aggressive with preventive activity and that is where OnSite Wellness already plays an important role. For a modest fee, On-Site Wellness will be providing vital information regarding the premature loss of arterial elasticity using the CVProfilor® System that might help individuals and their physicians recognize cardiovascular disease early and initiate treatment before it progresses too far. OnSite Wellness is recognized as a leader in disease prevention services and we look forward to working with them in bringing this simple yet important cardiovascular health test to consumers,” added Guettler.

Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures and markets proprietary cardiovascular profiling systems for medical applications and clinical research. These systems are marketed to physicians, other health care professionals and researchers by a direct sales force and via distributors throughout the world. In addition to providing blood pressure values, the systems non-invasively detect subtle changes in the compliance or elasticity of both large and small arteries which is a unique feature of HDI’s technology.
